The Teen Zone is a free program for middle school children throughout Gainesville. It is a partnership between the City of Gainesville, Alachua County Commission and the School Board of Alachua County. Teen Zone is located at Westwood Middle School, Kanapaha Middle School and Eastside Park for Lincoln and Howard Bishop Middle Schools. ACTION Network worked with city, county and school board officials along with over 1,100 parents and students to start The Teen Zone. Today, over 700 students participate in this innovative program that involves the students themselves in the planning of the activities. We are proud to say that over 86% of the students participating have maintained a grade point average of 2.0 or more or increased their academic achievement. And, over 97% of the students have not had initial or repeated involvement with the juvenile justice system
